Version 0.1.2 is a small release, and nearly all of it is Vanish. The cards got bigger, the Daily climbs more gently, and More puzzles now lets you choose how steep that climb is. One change is outside Vanish altogether, and it is the one iPhone players have been reaching for.
What changed
- The cards in Vanish are larger, and so are the values printed on them. The hand, the row of remaining cards and the line-up you pick from all grew. The board had been sitting well inside the screen it had, and that spare room was being paid for in legibility.
- The Vanish Daily grows its hand every other round instead of every round. Two things used to climb at once, the size of the hand and how briefly you get to look at it, which compounded fast over eight rounds. The shrinking look is now the pressure, and the hand size keeps its distance.
- More puzzles in Vanish has three difficulties to choose from. Easy starts at three cards and grows the hand every third round, Medium starts at four and grows every other round, and Hard keeps the older, steeper climb of a card every round. Each option says what it does rather than leaving you to find out, and the one you pick is remembered.
- The Daily itself is played at Medium, so everyone still sees the same run on the same date, whatever you pick for yourself in More puzzles.
- On iOS you can now swipe in from the left edge to go back. It lands in the same place the back chevron does, which makes leaving a game or a settings screen a thumb movement instead of a reach.
The rest of 0.1.2 is housekeeping you will never see: version tooling, and a publishing change that let the gentler Vanish curve reach dates that had already been scheduled.
Puzzle Lantern is made for entertainment. It is a collection of games, and nothing more is claimed for it.
